Hometown Team Event
This event will occur from October 6, 2015 to November 21, 2015. This is an activity of the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center (IHMAC) and the Independence Public Library. The event is made possible with a grant from the Kansas Hunanities Council . Elevate the Museum - 5-Year Renovation Pledge Campaign
On Saturday, March 28, 2015 the Independence Historical Museum & Art Center launched the event called "Elevate the Museum", a Five-year Renovation Pledge Campaign. The goal of the campaign is to raise funds to make the 100 year old building more accessible and safer to members and visitors.
The first phase on the renovation is complete. The ribbon cutting for the Ramp was held June 12, 2015.

Kansas Celebrity Hall of Fame
The Kansas Celebrity Hall of Fame is open Tuesday through Saturday 10:00 AM to 4 PM except on Thursday the hours are 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM. There are plans for special activities on Thursday evenings such as tours of videos shown.
Home Town Teams
The Hometown Teams partner exhibit will feature multiple activities that will enhance the themes of the traveling Smithsonian exhibition and provide an opportunity to engage all ages in baseball events. Between 2 - 4 p.m. Wednesday(July 1st)and 4-7 p.m. Thursday (July 2nd), you're invited to tell your personal story on camera at the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center which is preparing a fall exhibit titled, "A Bat and a Ball." Officers Installed at the Monthly Meeting
The Officers for the year were installed by Ethan Temple.
Steve Greenwall's Pastel Class is completed, but he is returning to give 1/2 day classes on perspective drawing on 6-15 and several months following at $20 each. Our regular painting days will be returning to the second and fourth Monday mornings.
The 2015 Verdigris Valley Art Exhibit(VVAE) was held June 26, 2015 to July 24, 2015.
Be sure to read about all the activities associated with art at the Museum. If you are a professional artist, you can apply for your own art exhibit (subject to approval).

The new campaign name and number are "The Painting Continues" and #15901. Place an order by calling 1-855-870-7208 or going online to schwans-cares.com. The Museum will receive 20% of all purchases made between October 28th and December 12th. We will continue to receive 5% from December 13th through to October 27, 2015.
E-certificates are available for $25 each. The Museum receives $10 from each one purchased. There is a limit of one per customer. A sample order form is here. You can go to www.schwans.com to place your order. Schwans also has an APP which you can download onto your phone, etc. That address is www.schwans.com/app.
Wi-FI is now available in the museum for your use. You can research your family history or other research items.. You can bring your own computer, or use one of the computers available. The WIFI and the coffee bar are open during regular business hours.
Luncheons are held each month on the second Friday at 12 Noon from through May. There are only special events during the summer months. Be sure to make reservations each month. The current month's newsletter lists the menu for the day.
